I Love Beer: Austin Beer Week, Day 2

As expected, I had a blast at the Draught House's 42nd Anniversary Party yesterday, one of the events that kicked off Austin Beer Week. Four casks going at any given time — it was heaven. Most impressive: Green Flash's Imperial Red. I have no idea what this beer tastes like regularly — and I'm normally not that big a fan of reds — but the cask treatment made it divinely hoppy and smooth. Southern Star's cask version of their Bombshell Blonde, flavored with honey, jasmine, and something else I can't remember now, was also a winner.

Today, I'll definitely have to join at least some of the bicycling pub crawl being thrown by my beer-blogging colleagues, Craft Austin and Beertown Austin (click on poster at right or link below.) It combines two of my favorite things in the whole world — bicycling and beer — and it's all in my neighborhood. Can't beat that.
