Damn, I hate to miss a good party right here in my own neighborhood, but I have to work this afternoon.
(Remember what Oscar Wilde said: "Work is the curse of the drinking class.") If I didn't, then I'd surely go down the street to
Austin Homebrew Supply for their
Oktoberfest party TODAY. Noon-5pm. Click on the link for details. Those of you who were smart enough to get your work done during the week should head on down there.

I heard about a homebrew co-op going into Austin. Got any news for me? aaron_118@hotmail.com
Aaron: I'm not familiar with a homebrew co-op; perhaps you're thinking of the Black Star Co-op Brewery or the Austin Zealots. See the links to the right for both.
Yes, I believe that the Black Star is what I was looking for. I'll check with my source to make sure though. Thanks for your prompt reply. I am new to the area and assumed that homebrewing would be near impossible during most of the year as I would have to keep things in the 120 degree garage. I'm still an amateur but I would certainly like to get back into brewing. I am a molecular biologist by training but brewing and woodwork are what I enjoy most. Do you have any recommendations on the more scientific brewing groups?

Sorry, I'm afraid I'm actually pretty clueless about brewing. I'm better at the drinking end of things. But check with the guys at the Austin Zealots, or talk to Charles at An Ear for Beer – he's a professional. (Again, links to both on the right.)
