If you've ever wondered whether that old Shaefer beer slogan was just an old urban legend, here's confirmation that it was indeed real:
Boy, they were really shelling out big money for the celebrity endorsements, weren't they?

That was tight
Lee,
I had plans today. Plans to be productive. Well, thanks to you, that is out the window. The the window that has turned into purple candle wax and is slowly dripping down the wall on to my carpet which is completely covered with writhing snakes.
I don't know where you dredged up that Moog/Schaefer Beer video, but the flashbacks started shortly after my unfortunate viewing decision. The Door's Moonlight Drive is currently pounding my temporal lobes into mush.
I'll get you for this.
Far out man! That was cutting edge. Could he be the first DJ?
That is the most awesome thing EVER.
My grandfather worked at a Schaefer bottler in the '60s. His house was filled with Schaefer swag.
Of course, this is the kind of culture that I come to this blog for. I've been in advertising and related biz for a long while and I remember reading about this famous slogan. It was originally developed in 1961 and lasted thru 1973. (I just started drinking beer, more than one, in 1973, so I missed out on this whole campaign.) Never heard the music until just now.
There were many, many Schaefer ads with the jingle "Schaefer is the one beer to have when you're having more than one". They used to run these ads on Yankee game broadcasts in the 60's and 70's, maybe on the Mets too. I think the Yankees were on WPIX channel 11, and the Mets on Metromedia channel 5.
