Beer Trivia

So at an auction at my older kid's school, I bought a couple of trivia games, some card sets, one called Beer Smarts and one called Wine Smarts. So let's see if anyone is actually reading this blog.

True or False: India Pale Ale originated in India.

Ex-Austinites Drinking Beer in Portland

So my buddy and former roommate Bill C. moved his family to Portland, Oregon a few years ago, and was recently joined up there by my buddy and former roommate Todd M., who also moved his family up there. Portland, of course, is a Beer Snob's mecca, and here they are at the Portland International Beerfest (which is not the big famous one that starts tomorrow; gotta love a city that has more than one beerfest). Bill promises a review of his samplings soon.

What's Your Beer Personality?

Courtesy of Dave Thomas: http://www.blogthings.com/whatsyourbeerpersonalityquiz/

I was described thusly:

You Are Guinness

You know beer well, and you'll only drink the best beers in the world.
Watered down beers disgust you, as do the people who drink them.
When you drink, you tend to become a bit of a know it all - especially about subjects you don't know well.
But your friends tolerate your drunken ways, because you introduce them to the best beers around.

Sounds about right.

Dave said his result was "predictable," which I assume means he was rated as a Bud Lite. That's okay, Dave — it's only your beer that disgusts me, but you're a great guy.

What Would Jesus Drink?

Sadly, according to this billboard, it would be Budweiser.

European beer diary by Bobnoxious

Bob is back from the World Cup, and he details his beer experiences for us mere mortals who could not join him on his odyssey.

Goin' to Kansas City, Kansas City here I come ...

Will be visiting the in-laws very soon, where I can get the quite tasty products of Boulevard Brewing Co. (which are not available in Texas). Any requests? Keep in mind, the Pussy Wagon can only hold so many cases of beer; if I bring back too much, then I have to leave behind either luggage or one of the kids.

If you've never had any, Boulevard is awesome. It's pretty much the only thing I drink while I'm up there. I love the Pale Ale on our summer visits, and the Bully Porter in winter. M'lady likes their wheat.
